If you’re looking for a high-end or luxury home, you’ll find many options here. From Lakeside Drive, travel south past Windy Hill to see homes on 2.5 – 10 acres, the majority of which are surrounded by lush, green pastures. Some of the old ranch style homes remain but most are now substantial, modern, and elegant. Farther south you’ll find a wide variety of modern, single level homes in sought-after developments such as Fieldcreek, Saddlehorn, Pecetti Ranch, and the Southwest Vistas. To the west and overlooking the entire valley lies Arrowcreek. This gated community offers many custom homes, two country club golf courses, and a pool and clubhouse. Last but not least you’ll reach the forested developments of Galena, St James Village and Montreux. All three lie at the base of Mount Rose, which offers a unique “Tahoe” feel. When it comes to luxury, Montreux is truly a cut above all the rest in my opinion. However all of the neighborhoods described above offer their own brand of desirability and schools are considered very good. Local tip: Located at the base of the Sierras, many of these neighborhoods are prone to wind and weather; altitude is a big factor. If this is a concern, stay towards the bottom of the hill rather than the top.
